Hi, I’m special projects executive producer here at WCHS-TV and Fox 11 and oversee the Eyewitness News iTeam. That means I, along with our team, get to dig a bit deeper into stories that affect you and the communities in which you live.
I’m originally from Baltimore, Md., but consider West Virginia my home.
Before landing in West Virginia, I worked at WMAR-TV in Baltimore as a newswriter/assistant and later as a news reporter for radio stations in Annapolis, Md., and Northern Virginia.
My foray into the state began in 1984 as a reporter for WBOY-TV in Clarksburg. I remember driving to a rural part of the state to meet someone for a story. She was a sweet elderly lady and kept offering me lemonade because it was such a hot day. I don’t remember the story, but I remember how welcoming she was to me – a stranger and outsider at the time. That first impression stuck, and I fell in love with West Virginia.
In my 35-plus years in the media, I’ve been a photographer, reporter, anchor, assignment editor, producer, managing editor, executive producer and now special projects executive producer. I’ve also been a call-for-action reporter overseeing a unit that helped viewers who couldn’t get answers to problems. On the government side, I’ve been a public information specialist and communications deputy director.
I love meeting people, finding out the story behind the story and being on the front porch of history. Maybe that’s why, after more than 35 years as a journalist, picking up a number of industry awards along the way (Maryland Broadcasters Assocation, West Virginia Broadcasters Association and Associated Press awards), I always returned to news, despite leaving it a couple of times for short jaunts in government communications.
You may have seen me pop up on the air over the years at other stations.
In 2017, my proverbial "walkabout" led me back to WCHS-TV, the station I started at in 1989 when I arrived in Charleston.
Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’d love to hear your story.
On a personal note, I still love discovering new places to eat and exploring the country with my husband of 30-plus years, along with the friends we’ve made over the years in West Virginia and beyond.
