West Virginia University senior guard Jevon Carter received a nice sendoff for his career as a Mountaineer.

The school announced Tuesday in a news release that Carter was selected to The Associated Press All-America second team.

Carter, a Maywood, Ill., resident, led the Mountaineers to their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and third NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in the last four years. He averaged 17.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 3.0 steals per game.

The Big 12 Conference previously selected Carter to the All-Big 12 Conference First Team and All-Big 12 Defensive Team. A leader of the “Press Virginia” defense, he won Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row.

Other honors this season for Carter include Sporting News (second team); USA Today (third team); NBC Sports (third team); and NABC (third team) All-America teams.
