The West Virginia Power’s home opener has been postponed.

The team announced in a Twitter post that Thursday's 7:05 p.m. game has been postponed. Two games against the Rome Braves will be played Friday at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston with the first one starting at 5:05 p.m. The gates will open at 4:30 p.m.

Expected rainy weather forced the postponement. West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice had been scheduled to throw out the first pitch.

West Virginia Power games against the Rome Braves also are scheduled Saturday and Sunday at Appalachian Power Park.

On Saturday, the action continues with the first pitch against Rome at 2:05 p.m. It will be the third annual craft beer festival with craft beers available from throughout the region. The first 1,000 fans in the gates will receive a commemorative BrewFest Charlie West print glass.

After the final out on Saturday, there will be a post-game concert featuring The Dividends.

On Sunday, the first pitch against the Braves will be at 2:05 p.m. The gates open at 1 p.m. for Kids Sunday Funday with a 20-minute outfield catch. After the final out, kids 12 and younger can run the bases, and select Power players will sign autographs.
