CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — The West Virginia Mountaineers are headed to Orlando where they will take on the Syracuse Orange in the Camping World Bowl.
The Mountaineers (8-3, 6-3) will take on former Big East foe Syracuse (9-3, 6-2) on Dec. 28 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
The Mountaineers come into the bowl game on a two-game losing skid after losing to Oklahoma State and Oklahoma in consecutive weeks by a combined seven points.
Two of Syracuse's three loses have come against Notre Dame and Clemson, two teams who were selected to play in the College Football Playoff.
This will be the 61st time West Virginia and Syracuse have squared off on the gridiron. The Orange lead the all-time series 33-27.
The last time the two teams met was in 2012 when Syracuse defeated West Virginia 38-14 in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.
