After dropping its first game of the season last weekend, the Marshall Thundering Herd bounced back with a win over William & Mary.

The Herd (5-1) defeated William & Mary (2-5) 84-64 Wednesday night, avenging a 2017 loss to the Tribe.

Marshall's Jon Elmore led all scorers with 26 points. He also dished out 5 assists and pulled in 5 rebounds.

Senior C.J. Burks finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Senior Rondale Watson came off the bench and scored a season-high 12 points and also pulled down 7 rebounds.

Sophomore Jarrod West added 11 points for the Herd.

Marshall shot 48 percent (30 of 62) from the field and 32 percent (7 of 22) from 3-point range. Defensively, the Herd forced 20 William & Mary turnovers.

The Herd will be back in action Saturday when it travels to Athens to take on the Ohio Bobcats (4-2). Last season, Marshall narrowly defeated Ohio 99-96 in overtime.

The Bobcats lead the all-time series with the Herd 55-48.
