CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — One student from Hurricane and St. Albans High School have been selected as this week's Todd Judy Ford Scholar Athletes of the Week.
Senior Olivia Hart was selected as the Todd Judy Ford Scholar Athlete of the Week for Hurricane High School.
Hart is a member of Hurricanes golf and swimming teams and won the first West Virginia girls state golf championship.
She carries a 4.5 GPA and said she has never made a B. Hart is the vice president of the school's Key Club and Mu Alpha Theta chapter and is a member of several other organizations, including the National Honor Society.
A mother to a 2-year-old daughter, Hart plans to attend Marshall University and major in engineering.
Senior Brandon Holt was selected as the Todd Judy Ford Scholar Athlete of the Week for St. Albans High School.
Holt is a member of the Red Dragons' wrestling team.
In addition to excelling in the classroom, he is also a member of the National Guard ROTC.
Holt has not decided on where he will attended college at this time, but said scholarships and ROTC will play a major role in his decision.
Hart and Holt are now finalists to win the Todd Judy Ford Scholar Athlete of the Year. At the end of the football season, one of our Todd Judy Ford Scholar Athlete of the Year will be selected as the Todd Judy Ford Scholar Athlete of the Year and will be awarded with a $5,000 scholarship to a school of his or her choice.
Hurricane and St. Albans will meet up on the football field in our Wendy's Friday Night Rivals Game of the Week. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Stadium or online.
