Charleston Distance Run Now Just 22 Days Away


CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The echoing sound of the cannon that signals the start of the Charleston Distance Run is now just 22 days away. Don't miss being part of a capital city tradition.

The 43rd edition of the CDR starts at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, on Kanawha Boulevard across from the West Virginia Capitol Complex.

Entry fee for the 15-miler is $60 for those who register by 9 p.m. Sept. 4. The registration fee for the 5K run and three-person, 15-mile relay (per person) is $45 for those who sign up by 9 p.m. Sept. 4. Meanwhile, the 10K walk and 5K walk entry fee is $30 for those who register by 9 p.m. Sept. 4.

Participants in the Distance Run receive lots of perks. There is a pre-race pasta dinner the evening before the race at the Charleston Civic Center. Entrants also receive a T-shirt, goody bag, are eligible for cash awards in age group categories and pizza and refreshments at the post-race celebration at Laidley Field.
