CDR Children's Fun Run Offers Event Just For The Kids

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Kids don't have to just stand on the sidelines and cheer at the Charleston Distance Run. They can compete in their own event against children their age.

A free Children's Fun Run for kids ages 4 to 12 years is offered the evening before the main Sept. 5 race. The children's run begins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, on Clendenin Street between Quarrier and Lee streets, across from the entrance to the Charleston Town Center.

The advance registration form can be found online here. Registration also will be available from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the Charleston Civic Center Lobby. Registration applications can be mailed to: Charleston Parks and Recreation, Children's Fun Run, Charleston Parks, 200 Baker Lane, Charleston, WV 25302.

Age groups available are 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12.

Charleston Parks and Recreation sponsors the event and assistance is provided by the Tallman Track Club, Capital City Striders Track Club and Charleston Town Center Teen Board.
