West Virginia Power opens home season this week with first game Thursday, April 6

The West Virginia Power is offering special deals, fireworks, collectibles and a concert to get lots of fans in the stands when the team opens its home season this week at Appalachian Power Park.

The Power’s home opener is Thursday, April 6, against the Rome Braves with games also scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Charleston ballpark, according to the team’s website.

On Thursday, the first pitch is at 7:05 p.m., and the gates open at 6 p.m. It will be the first Thirsty Thursday of the season and fans can buy 12-ounce drafts for $1 and $2 16-ounce cans through the end of the seventh inning.

Postgame fireworks will cap off the evening on Thursday.

The Power takes on the Braves again on Friday with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans in the gate will receive a magnetic schedule so they can keep track of the team’s games this season.

On Saturday, the action continues with the first pitch against Rome at 2:05 p.m. It will be the third annual craft beer festival with craft beers available from throughout the region. The first 1,000 fans in the gates will receive a commemorative BrewFest Charlie West print glass.

After the final out on Saturday, there will be a post-game concert featuring The Dividends.

On Sunday, the first pitch against the Braves will be at 2:05 p.m. The gates open at 1 p.m. for Kids Sunday Funday with a 20-minute outfield catch. After the final out, kids 12 and younger can run the bases, and select Power players will sign autographs.
