Third gun found this year at Yeager Airport
A Transportation Security Administration officer at Yeager Airport has cited a man after spotting a handgun in a carry-on bag at the airport.
This is the third time in 2018 that TSA has stopped a gun from getting past the airport checkpoint at Yeager, a news release from the airport said.
According to the release, the man was stopped Wednesday at checkpoint with a .32-caliber handgun in a carry on along with three empty magazines. The gun appeared on the X-ray monitor and was spotted by the officer staffed at the checkpoint.
The man told officials he meant to check the gun but forgot it was still in his bag.
The man was cited on weapons charges and the gun was confiscated by police, the release said.
Six guns were discovered at Yeager in 2017.
Passengers may travel with firearms in checked baggage if they are properly packaged and declared, airport officials said. They must be unloaded, packed in a hard-sided case, locked and packed separately from ammunition.
