Suspect strikes gas station employee with car after stealing beer, deputies say

    The Scioto County Sheriff's Office said a woman was charged after striking a gas station employee with her car while fleeing with stolen beer.

    Erin L. Spears, 46, of Wheelersburg was charged with aggravated robbery, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

    Deputies said they received a call about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Speedee Mart Sunoco gas station on Center Street in Wheelersburg. Deputies said the suspect put three beers inside her purse without paying. The suspect left the store in her car, nearly striking one employee and hitting a second employee, causing him to flip over the hood, deputies said. The employee was treated at the scene for injuries that were not life threatening.

    The suspect was arrested during a traffic stop.

    Spears was taken to the Scioto CountyJail, and bond was set at $100,000. The investigation is ongoing, and more charges could be presented to a grand jury.
