South Charleston's annual Summerfest kicks off, runs through weekend

Live music, activities for kids and food and fun will add some sizzle to the end of summer in South Charleston.

Summerfest opens Wednesday, Aug. 15, and runs through Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Mound, according to information posted on the South Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau’s website.

Organizers said the event will offer live music, free face painting, snow cones, cotton candy and inflatables every night.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Dance lesson with the Charleston Shag Society.

7 p.m. to 10 p.m. – The Band off Oz

Thursday, Aug. 16

6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. – Big Planet Soul

8 p.m. to 10 p.m. – The Motortown All-Stars

Friday, Aug. 17

4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. – Jeff Ellis

6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. – The Krista Hughes Band

8 p.m. to 10 p.m. – The Poets and Pirates – Kenny Chesney Tribute Band

Saturday, Aug. 18

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Car show

6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. – Jake and Elwood and The Boys: Blues Brothers

8 p.m. to 10 p.m. – Rick K and the Allnighters

10 p.m. – Fireworks
