Police say woman who reported she was robbed is arrested on outstanding warrants

A woman claims a man beat her up and stole her purse Monday morning near downtown Charleston, but now, she is facing charges.

Charleston police said a homeless man and woman were walking along Virginia Street, near Goldfarb Electric when the man pulled out a knife and stole the woman's purse.

The woman was identified as Amanda Thomas, 43.

Police said she had outstanding trespassing warrants and was arrested. Police say the suspect took off and has not been identified.
