Nitro's police chief said a woman admitted to taking meth before she crashed a vehicle into a house early Tuesday morning.

Police Chief Bobby Eggleton said Hannah Dawn Parsons was transported to a local hospital after the car she was driving struck a home in St. Albans. Warrants are being filed, and she will be arrested once she is released, the chief said.

Officers tried to stop the car for a traffic violation in Nitro when the driver sped away. Police turned on their lights to pursue the vehicle, which turned on Sixth Street in St. Albans and the driver almost lost control, Eggleton said. The car crashed into the house in the 800 block of Sixth Avenue.

Parsons later admitted to medics that she had recently taken meth, Eggleton said.

Eggleton said police found needles in her possession and observed fresh track marks.
