New company hopes to supply renewable energy
BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
A new way to produce energy is in the works in Boone County.
Boone County commissioners today were presented with a project by Green Line Energy. Daniel Hicks, CEO of the company, said the goal is to supply renewable energy to all the Hobet mine sites for the military.
Electricity will be produced using wind, solar and hydrogen with no need for an electricity company.
Hicks said the project will create thousands of jobs in the state.
“What I set up is for displaced coal miners to be able to come into with very limited training and they'll be able to be energy producers,” Hicks said.
Hicks said they plan to purchase as many products needed for the project locally.
When all is said and done, Hicks said the project will cost about $300 million.
