Dunbar police are continuing to investigate a woman's homicide just over the hillside from the Roxalana Townhouses. They located a vehicle in the South Ridge area, late Tuesday night, possibly connected to the investigation.

Detectives are still trying to piece together what led up to a woman being shot and killed, after first being alerted to the crime by a neighbor out walking her dog.

Jane Samosky came across blood and a bullet casing about 7 a.m. Tuesday morning and called police.

"Trash was strewn on the road, so I was going to go pick it up and put it in the Dumpster, but then I noticed that it was red, like blood," Samosky said.

Capt. Matt Arthur said at the current stage of the investigation, he does not believe anyone living in the neighborhood was involved.

"It appears that it was people who came from another area to that location for some reason," Arthur said.

The scene was found in a poorly lit corner of the neighborhood prone to strange behavior.

"We try to keep our property in really good condition, but this corner gets really dark, and people have a tendency to find it and come there when they're up to no good, so I guess that's what happened last night," Samosky said.

Samosky said many of her neighbors heard what they thought was the sound of gunshots but never called 911, and police have no eyewitnesses.

"You know we don't know what went down. We're going to have to beef up security our self around here to make sure it's not such a dark corner anymore and possibly even get some videos up and running, so in case something like this happens, we'll have evidence of it," Samosky said.
