Motorcycle ride, rally expected to increase traffic in Fayette, Raleigh counties

Motorcycle traffic is expected to be revved up this week in the Fayette and Raleigh county areas while a club holds its annual rally in Beckley.

The Fire & Iron Motorcycle Club will hold its national ride as a group on Saturday, June 23, when nearly 1,100 motorcycles are expected, according to a news release from the Fayette County Office of Emergency Management.

Motorcyclists will travel from Harper Road to Dry Hill Road to Robert C. Byrd Drive, get off onto Route 19and travel north to Route 60. Once the riders get to Route 60, they will turn and comeback down Route 19. Most of the event is in Fayette County.

Motorists should expect delays on Saturday, June 23, between 10a.m. and 1 p.m. Several intersections along Route 19 will be closed for a short time to allow for the rally to pass.
