Mason County deputies: Man arrested after 300 grams of meth, 11 firearms found

A Mason County man is facing charges after deputies said they found about 300 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 11 firearms at his residence.

Walter Ray Cavender, 54, of Mason County is charged with possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine and 11 counts of being a prohibited person in possession of firearms.

Deputies served a search warrant at Cavender’s home in Leon and found and seized about 300 grams of the drug and 11 firearms, according to a news release from the Mason County Sheriff's Office. Cavender was arrested Wednesday.

Deputies said the arrest stems from ongoing investigations on illegal drug activity taking place in the county.

Cavender is currently being held in Western Regional Jail without bond.
