Marshall fans celebrate Herd's first NCAA Tournament win
Huntington is still celebrating after Marshall upset Wichita State to get its first-ever NCAA Tournament win.
It’s been 31 years since Marshall was in the NCAA Tournament, so fans in Huntington were already excited and Friday afternoon, coach Dan D’Antoni and his team took it a step further with the team’s first ever tournament win.
“I don't even know how to react. I don't believe it's real. This is so awesome man we've waited so long. I am so happy,” Marshall fan Brad Bobersky said.
Marshall junior Jon Elmore is now in the middle of a national conversation after he scored 27 points in the win over Wichita State.
The last Marshall players to score 25 or more in an NCAA Tournament game was Mike D’Antoni back in 1972.
“Seen as the underdogs, we are overlooked a lot but when something like this happens, it's always great for everybody in the entire state,” Marshall fan Todd Childers said.
Not only dancing but advancing. These Herd fans never doubted the Herd’s heart.
Marshall will take on in-state rival WVU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday in San Diego.
