Man wanted for mine theft turns himself into Kanawha County deputies

    A man wanted for a theft at Contura Energy's Mammoth Coal Company mine turned himself into Kanawha County deputies Thursday afternoon.

    Henry Lee Chapman, 57, of Cannelton was wanted for grand larceny and destruction of property, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.

    Larry Edward Patton Jr. 47, of Gallagher, was arrested Tuesday and charged with grand larceny and destruction of property.

    The two men are accused of stealing or damaging more than $268,000 worth of equipment on March 3. They were seen by employees stealing and damaging components from a transformer.
