A man was sentenced Tuesday after being charged with distribution of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart said.

Christopher Chad Winnell, 36 of Marmet was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison, a news release from Stuart said. Winnell will serve a term of 25 years on federal supervised release after his release from prison and also will be required to register as a sex offender.

Winnell had previously entered a guilty plea to two counts of distribution of child pornography. According to the release, Winnell admitted he engaged in an email conversation on Dec. 20, 2014 from his home discussing the exchange of child pornography. He also admitted the discussion resulted in the exchange of child pornography images that involved infants.

Winnell also admitted to using a messaging service on Nov. 7, 2015, to share an image of child pornography involving an infant with multiple individuals, the release said. The image was received by at least one person in Canada, the investigation determined.

The investigation also discovered Winnell possessed hundreds of images and videos of child pornography stored in an online account, the release said.

“These crimes are horrific,” Stuart said in the release. “Winnell’s exploitation of children, including infants, is deplorable. We can all rest easier knowing that this guy has been removed from our community and will be spending a good number of years behind bars.”
