A man from Huntington is behind bars after police said he got high and passed out with his children in the vehicle.

Justin Roberts is charged with child abuse with risk of injury.

Police got a call Monday about an unresponsive man behind the wheel of a van at the intersection of 18th Street and Ninth Avenue, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court.

When paramedics got there, they said, they found Roberts unresponsive in the vehicle. There was also a 5 year old and a 1 year old in the vehicle.

Paramedics were able to revive Roberts. The complaint said he told police he was just sleepy and passed out, but police found drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. They said Roberts also had track marks on his arm.

Police said Roberts told them he had marijuana and Lortab pills in his system from the day before, and that he also took Trazadone a couple of hours before driving.

Roberts is currently in the Western Regional Jail.
