Longest continuing Memorial Day parade takes place in Ironton
IRONTON, Ohio (WCHS/WVAH) —
This year marks the 150th commemoration of Memorial Day, and it's also the 150th anniversary of the nation's longest-continuing Memorial Day parade.
Ironton's well-known Memorial Day parade kicked off around 10 a.m. Monday in Ohio. The parade started at the Lawrence County Courthouse.
Twelve divisions, full of a variety of entries, made their way to the other end of town and then back to the other side.
Thousands were expected to line the street to watch the parade, some even claimed their spots the night before.
