HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — Hundreds of workers at Special Metals in Huntington were told to go home during their shift Friday.
About 600 members of United Steelworkers Local 40 were sent home mid-shift, according to multiple workers. An emergency meeting was held Friday afternoon with union workers.
Workers were in the middle of negotiations and their contract was set to expire Friday at midnight.
Special Metals parent company Precision Castparts, LLC has not responded to inquiries.
