More than 3 inches of rain fell within an hour in some parts of Putnam County resulting in significant flash flooding Saturday afternoon.

First responders worked quickly to rescue people trapped in their homes as water quickly rose around them.

One such water rescue was at a home on Poplar Creek in Scott Depot. Several homes in the area were flooded and residents said it was some of the worst flooding they have ever seen.

As a result of the heavy rain, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Putnam County and parts of western Kanawha County through 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
