Deputies say human remains identified as missing person in Jackson County, Ohio
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said human remains found last week have been identified as a man reported missing nearly a decade ago.
The remains were found last Tuesday on Raysville Road in Wellston, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted to process the scene. The remains were collected and sent to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office for identification.
On Wednesday, BCI contacted the sheriff's department to report the identity of the remains using DNA. The remains were identified as Roger Marks, Jr., 33, of Jackson County who was reported missing in 2009.
The case is now a criminal investigation. The sheriff's office did not release a cause of death or possible suspects.
