The Wayne County Sheriff's Office identified a man suspected of posing as a police officer and conducting traffic stops.

Justice Staley, 21, of Prichard will be charged with impersonating a police officer, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.

Deputies said they received calls last week about a light colored Jeep Wrangler with blue lights pulling over a driver in the Ceredo and Kenova area.

Deputies said the victim was with his wife and child and was pulled over on Route 75 on Nov. 22. Deputies said the suspect identified himself as a member of the sheriff office's Drug Enforcement Unit during the stop.

Deputies said they identified the suspect who is currently on probation from a 2017 case involving a large amount of crystal methamphetamine.

Deputies said this was an isolated incident. Staley has not yet been arrested, and the sheriff's office is seeking an arrest warrant.
