Authorities are investigating after a man and a woman were found dead on Yellow Creek Road in Lawrence County, Ky.

Kentucky State Police told Eyewitness News it all started with a call to Lawrence County 911 dispatchers Sunday night. A woman called to say a man was yelling for help outside of her home after he had been shot. The woman stayed inside her home and called dispatchers for help. She told them she heard several gunshots outside of her home. The man made it to her front porch, but died before first responders arrived on scene.

After locating the man's body, investigators went to the closest home and found a woman dead inside.

"23 years I have lived here and nothing like this has ever happened," neighbor Gloria Hammond said. "Nobody seems to bother anyone. This was a shock this morning. I got a call from a family member who said there had been a shooting up there."

Troopers have not released names of anyone involved at this time. They believe these are isolated incidents, and there is no danger to the public.

No one is in custody, but authorities are following up on leads.

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department is assisting in the investigation.
