Ashland middle school student wins Dream Out Loud contest
A middle school student in the Tri-State region was recognized for winning a contest with hundreds of entries.
Abbi Borders, sixth grader at Boyd County Middle School in Ashland, Ky. participated in the Dream Out Loud state-wide competition and won in her category.
Abbi wrote an essay about her hope to become a teacher. It won her a $1,000 college savings account and her school was awarded $500 dollars.
"You just like want to get a head start on stuff to be prepared so that when you get older, you can already have an idea in your mind of what you want to do," Abbi said.
The contest is hosted by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance authority and 8 winners are chosen state-wide.
