You'd be hard pressed to find a medium which hasn't featured the emerald archer of Sherwood Forest and every facet of his life.

We've read and seen origin stories for Robin Hood, chapters focusing on his final days, prequels, sequels, dramatic takes, comedic turns and romantic couplings.

The Astral Theatre Collective takes its swing at the legend with the original play, "Wolf's Head: A Tale of Robin Hood and the Sheriff."

"In going through, you know I found a little bit of a connection from some of my sources to the fact that maybe the sheriff knew Robin Hood," John Johnson (Playwright, Sheriff of Nottingham) said. "And I thought that might be an interesting start to a re-telling of the tale. And of course we're in a time when, you know, we need heroes now just like we did back then. So, I think it's very timely that we're getting Robin Hood one more time."

After Johnson wrote his play he set about casting it. He's portraying the Sheriff of Nottingham himself, but elected to entice veteran husband and wife actors Kevin and Tara Pauley to play Robin Hood and Maid Marian.

"Audiences coming out to this can expect to see, you know, the typical Robin Hood and the Merry Men and the sheriff and swordfights and all that," Kevin Pauley (Robin Hood) said. "But there's a little extra dynamic here between Robin and the sheriff that John was able to make a really nice dramatic piece as well."

With a bit of swashbuckling featuring Robin Hood's familiar Merry Men, Johnson says his story is inspired by a character everyone grew up knowing, but is not same version we may be familiar with.

"It's not like any Robin Hood that people have seen before," Brian Kidd (Director) said. "Of course, it's a story that's been told over and over and over again. But the great thing about being a story that's rather old everybody can put their own spin on it."
