Mountaineers get yet another win over No. 1 Tuesday night

For the second time in nearly 365 days, West Virginia University's basketball program took out the No. 1 team in the country on the Coliseum floor.

No. 10 West Virginia's 89-68 victory against Baylor on Tuesday night was the second straight for the Mountaineers against the top-ranked team.

The Mountaineers have defeated the No. 1 team on three total occasions.

Last season on Jan. 12 , WVU won a thriller against Kansas.

Morgantown native Nate Adrian scored 22 points in the victory, while Javon Carter added 17.

Brandon Watkins and Tarik Phillip each scored 11 points for the home team.

WVU, which forced 29 turnovers, improved to 14-2 and 3-1 in Big 12 competition.

Baylor is now 15-1 and 3-1 in Big 12 play.

Tuesday's game marked the seventh in which West Virginia had hosted the No. 1 team. WVU's other win again the nation's top club came in 1989 over UNLV.
