Marshall Plan is in place at WVSU
The Marshall Plan for West Virginia State University women's basketball is in place.
On Monday, Charles Marshall, who had a successful run at Glenville, was introduced as the new head coach for Lady Yellow Jacket basketball on the Institute campus.
Marshall replaces David Smith as he leaves one Mountain East Conference school for another.
In three seasons at Glenville, Marshall brought plenty of excitement to the Lady Pioneer program.
His first team won the inaugural Mountain East Conference Tournament title and finished with a record of 29-7.
This past season his Lady Pioneers led the country in scoring at the NCAA Division II level, averaging 89.2 per game.
During his playing days, Marshall was a standout for Pleasant Ridge Park of Louisville helping his team to the state's prestigious Sweet 16 State Tournament.
He played in college at Berea, Kentucky and was a key contributor to a Final Four squad at the NAIA level. He was a First Team All-KIAC selection as a senior and earned NAIA Honorable Mention All-America honors.
