West Virginia advances to second round of NCAA Tournament

No. 5 West Virginia is moving on in the NCAA Tournament.

The Mountaineers (25-10) were in control for most of the game in their 85-68 win over No. 12 Murray State (26-6).

Senior guard Jevon Carter led the way for WVU, scoring 21 points. He also had eight assists, six steals, and five rebounds.

Freshman forward Teddy Allen provided a spark off the bench for the Mountaineers, scoring 16 points.

Sophomore forward Sagaba Konate scored 14 points and pulled in seven rebounds.

WVU will now face No. 13 Marshall in the second round of the NCAA Tournament after the Herd upset No. 4 Wichita State earlier in the day.

The Mountaineers and Herd will play Sunday in San Diego at 9:40 p.m. ET.
