West Virginia state track championships Friday, Saturday at Laidley Field

The action will be fast and furious at University of Charleston Stadium Laidley Field this weekend when high school boys and girls from across the Mountain State compete for track titles.

The West Virginia state meet kicks off Friday and runs through Saturday, according to a schedule posted on the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission’s website.

Below is the full schedule for events:

A spokesman at Laidley Field said admission for a single day pass for an adult is $8 and $7 for students. Adults may purchase a two-day pass for $15, and students may buy a two-day pass for $12.

On Friday, qualifying rounds will be held for a number of events during the day, including the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes. The final event for Friday is the 3,200-meter run with the girls Class A final at 7 p.m., girls Class AA at 7:15 p.m., girls Class AAA at 7:30 p.m., boys Class A at 7:45 p.m., boys Class AA at 8 p.m. and boys Class AAA at 8:15 p.m.

Saturday’s finals begin with field events starting at 9 a.m. and wrapping up with the 4x400-meter relay in various classes running from 4:10 p.m. through 5:25 p.m.
