Game 15: Notre Dame defeats Wheeling Central to reach title game

Jarrod West poured in 35 points as his Notre Dame team hammered Wheeling Central in the Class A semifinal game of the West Virginia boys basketball tournament.

The Fighting Irish defeated the Knights Friday 73 to 51 at the Charleston Civic Center to advance to the title game. Notre Dame was the 4 seed in the tournament, while Wheeling Central was the No. 1 seed.

Wheeling Central was led by Owen Gainer, who scored 17.

Notre Dame shot 43.9 percent from the field and held Wheeling Central to 36.7 percent.

Notre Dame faces Ravenswood in the championship game at noon Saturday. Ravenswood downed St. Joseph Central on Wednesday 62 to 41.
