Alabama's Nick Saban becomes highest paid coach in college football
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. —
Alabama football coach Nick Saban agrees to a eight-year contract extension that runs through the 2024 season.
The new deal includes a $4 million bonus, which on top of a base salary of $6.725 million and a $400 thousand bonus if he completes the season. Add it up, and Alabama's football coach will make $11.15 million in 2017. That is two million dollars more than Michigan's Jim Harbaugh.
It's also more money than San Antonio Spurs coach Greg Popovich, who is the highest paid coach in pro sports at $11 million a season.
