Game 2: University downs Martinsburg to advance in state boys tourney

University will be playing in the semifinal of the Class AAA boys basketball tournament after defeating Martinsburg.

The Hawks outpaced the Bulldogs 58-46 Wednesday at the Charleston Civic Center.

University was paced by Kaden Metheny and Austin Forbes, who both scored 14 points. Corey Barnett led Martinsburg with 22 points.

The Hawks led 32-21 at the half and shot 35.8 percent from the field for the game. Martinsburg shot 25.9 percent from the field.

The Hawks will now face the winner of the Huntington-Musselman game, which is scheduled 7:15 p.m. Thursday. The semifinal contest will be at 9 p.m. Friday.
