Game 18: Huntington defeats University, advances to championship

Huntington High School advanced to a Class AAA title appearance after a 73-65 victory against the No. 2 seed University Hawks.

The No. 3 Highlanders took a 35-31 lead into the half over the Hawks. The Hawks were able to close the gap to one point at the end of the third quarter, before pulling away 27-20 in the fourth.

Mikal Dawson led the way for Huntington with 26 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Grant Subik scored 18, while John Dawson added 15.

Geoff Hamperian and Ethan Ridgeway each scored 14 points for the Hakws, with Hamperian adding 11 rebounds.

Huntington faces No. 1 Capital at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
