Game 11: George Washington hits late shot to beat Huntington
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
No. 3 George Washington erased a 13-point third quarter deficit to defeat No. 6 Huntington in the Class AAA quarterfinals Thursday night.
The Patriots (21-3) scored a game-winning basket with just 44 seconds remaining to defeat the Highlanders (17-7) 61-59.
The Patriots had four players score in double-figures and were led by Bunky Brown who recorded a double-double. Brown finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Anthony Clendenin nearly had a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Justin Phillips finished with 13 points and Matthew Cook had 12 points.
Huntington's Mikal Dawson led all scorers with 24 points. He also pulled down 11 rebounds.
Andrew Shull scored 14 for the Highlanders and Amare Smith scored 11.
