Luanne Platter Herself on King Of The Hill  Luanne is Hank's niece by marriage (she's Peggy's brother's child), and although Hank isn't always sure that such a distant relative should count as family, she's been sleeping on the fold-out couch in Hank's den ever since her mom went to jail for stabbing her dad with a fork during a nasty brawl over who drank the last beer.Luanne has dreams. Big dreams. She believes that one day she could be the person to "hide those bags under Michael Douglas's eyes." That's why she's going to beauty academy, where she maintains a C average. Last semester she got tangled up in the braiding machine and failed the shampoo final (who knew that the "repeat" in "Lather. Rinse. Repeat" included rinsing?), but when her plastic styling dummy met an untimely demise on Hank's table saw, she demonstrated an ability to roll with the punches. Despite her own less-than-ideal family situation, Luanne has a carefree heart and a resilient spirit. Though she has trouble resisting the dubious charms of her on again-off-again boyfriend, Buckley, a motorcycle-riding, Mega-Lo-Mart clerk, it should be noted that she was the one member of the Hill household with the strength to resist the addictive power of nicotine.
