Josh Dean Nate Stahlings on Free Ride
Josh Dean hails from Edmonton, Alberta, the live theater capital of Western Canada. He began his career as an improviser with Rapid Fire Theatre, playing "Theatresports." In his eight-year association with the company, he served as Interim Artistic Director on multiple occasions and toured extensively, winning improv tournaments across North America and in Europe.Since 2002 Dean has also been a core company member of the long-running live improvised soap opera "Die-Nasty." He has worked regularly as an actor with Edmonton's Teatro La Quindicina, appearing in the plays of writer/director Stewart Lemoine. Among his Teatro credits are principal roles in "Shockers Delight!," "The Hothouse Prince," "On the Banks of the Nut" and "Carribean Muskrat," which he also co-wrote. Dean has appeared at Edmonton's Citadel Theatre in productions of "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "Betty's Summer Vacation" and has made numerous appearances with smaller local companies and at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. Most recently, he wrote and acted for the veteran sketch comedy troupe Gordon's Big Bald Head, and created a musical theater cabaret revue, the Eleven o'Clock Songs, with singer/actress Celina Stachow and pianist Liz Han. He is also a member of the Draft Six, an Edmonton independent film production company whose productions include "The Sonic Brooms" and Turnbuckle."
