John Langley Co-Creator and Executive Producer of COPS
John Langley founded Barbour/Langley Productions with his former partner, now retired. Their first production, "Cocaine Blues," was an award-winning documentary that led to extensive TV credits including "Code 3," "Night Prowler," "The KGB Files," "Cop Files" and numerous television specials with Geraldo Rivera and renowned newspaper columnist Jack Anderson. The reality series COPS has been touted as the vanguard of reality programming that spawned the milieu of video-vérité television.Under the banner of Langley Productions, Langley recently directed and produced "Dogwatch," a cop drama starring Sam Elliott, Esai Morales and Paul Sorvino. In addition, Langley founded and is CEO of Real Entertainment, a video production and distribution company that produced the record breaking "COPS: Too Hot for TV" series of tapes and "The Amazing Video Collection." Langley's earlier film credits include "Maximum Potential" starring Dolph Lundgren, which he directed. As a writer, he co-wrote "P.O.W. The Escape" starring David Carradine, and "Deadly Sins," a psychological thriller starring David Keith and Alyssa Milano. As producer his credits include "Wildside," an erotic thriller, and "Gunfighter's Moon," a western. Currently, he has two films in development, "Iron Man," based on a Marvel comic book character, for 20th Century Fox and "Venom & Carnage" for New Line Cinema. Langley is a former English instructor at UC Irvine and Dominguez Hills. He also founded and published an entertainment weekly newspaper and served as contributing editor to Film News International. He resides in the Los Angeles area with his wife, Maggie.
