Caroline in the City
Late Night on WVAH Fox 11

Caroline in the City cast photo Caroline in the City was the #1 new primetime series when it made its premiere on NBC in the 1995-1996 season. In its second season, it established itself as a bona fide hit, giving NBC its best Tuesday rating at 9-9:30 PM in seven years. Caroline in the City was a consistently top-rated, primetime comedy, and an integral part of NBC's popular "Must-She TV" Monday night line-up. Now, WVAH Fox 11 brings you this popular comedy, weeknights at 11:30 PM.

The series' central character is Caroline Duffy (Lea Thompson, Back to the Future), an accomplished cartoonist searching for love and happiness or, at least, some good material for her weekly comic strip. Caroline finally has her professional life just the way she wants it. "Caroline in the City," the strip she created, has transformed into a merchandising goldmine, with an array of greeting cards, books and calendars.

On the other hand, her personal life isn't quite as golden...although it's proving to be a veritable well of material for her comic work. Over the past two seasons, Caroline's charmingly combative relationship with Richard Karinsky (Malcolm Gets, Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle), the struggling, brooding artist who pays his rent by working as her cartoon colorist, has taken an interesting turn. Now, a romantic triangle has developed between the pair and Julia (Sofia Milos, Cafe Americain), Richard's new wife, forcing Caroline to confront her deepening feelings for her colleague.

Other inspirations for the comic strip include Del Cassidy (Eric Lutes, Frasier), Caroline's ex-fiance who owns the greeting card company that produces "Caroline in the City" cards, as well as Charlie (Andy Lauer, 21 Jump Street), the adrenaline-fueled "gopher" who works there. And, of course there's Annie Spadaro (Amy Pietz, Muscle), Caroline's best friend and neighbor, a Broadway actress with an offbeat dating life that is chronicled in the strip.

The distinctive illustrations of cartoonist Bonnie Timmons, which accent each episode of the series, won an Emmy Award in 1996 for "Outstanding Individual Achievement in Graphic Design and Title Sequences."

Caroline in the City is from Barron/Pennette Productions and Three Sisters Entertainment in association with CBS Entertainment Productions. Fred Barron (Dave's World, The Larry Sanders Show), Marco Pennette (Dave's World) and David Nichols (Grace Under Fire) are the Executive Producers.
