Three individuals were recently arrested after Fayette County deputies said they were associated with counterfeit money.

Nina Marie Caldwell, 30, of Pax and Robert Lee Forren, 34, of Pax are charged with counterfeiting.

Stuart Dotson, 51, of Pax was arrested for counterfeiting after turning himself in to the sheriff's office.

A statement posted by Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley on the department’s Facebook page, said deputies responded to Pax regarding a counterfeit money complaint. A caller told deputies he was approached by a female who asked if he could make change for a $20 bill. After making change for the bill, he later tried to use it at a convenience store but was denied. The store clerk told him the bill was counterfeit, the post said.

Fridley said an investigation led deputies to the female suspect and her male companion. The sheriff said the two admitted to knowing the bill was fake and told deputies the location of its origin. Deputies then executed a search warrant at a residence on Weirwood Loop Road in Pax and found additional counterfeit money.

Caldwell and Forren are being held at Southern Regional Jail on $10,000 surety/cash bond each.

Dotson was released after posting a $7,500 bond.

Anyone with information regarding this situation is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 304-574-3590.
