Ninth annual Bean Stringin' event benefits Manna Meal
CHARLESTON, WV (WCHS/WVAH) —
People were stringing beans at Capitol Market Saturday to make sure those in need have something to eat.
It was the ninth annual Bean Stringin’ event at the Capitol Market in Charleston.
Organizers asked participants to buy a pound of beans, string them, and donate them to Manna Meal.
The nonprofit organization has been serving two meals a day, every day, for 40 years at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
There was music, door prizes and a raffle. Those who attended said the event is a fun way to help feed those in need.
"All different types of people from different backgrounds, it's kind of unifying. It's low tech, anybody can do it, and it's great for folks to come together,” Kay Albright, with Manna Meal, said.
All donations, as well as raffle ticket money, will benefit Manna Meal.
