New businesses coming to help Ashland
ASHLAND, Ky. (WCHS/WVAH) —
New businesses are coming to Ashland and are causing a ripple effect for more jobs and opportunities to community members in the area.
"There's been a lot of growth downtown and we continue to see a lot more growth downtown," Ashland Economic Specialist, Katherine Utsinger said. "Ever since Braidy Industries announced that they were coming, the Delta Marriott hotel announced that it was going to be redeveloped, there's just a lot happening in Ashland right now."
Including the addition of The 3 J Group, made up of partners Jason Camp, John Vorndran and Jimmy Blanke from Florida working to open four new businesses in town.
"We're happy to see somebody come in that has a lot of experience in the restaurant industry that I think they're going to be able to succeed well," Utsinger said.
They plan to open Somkin' J's Rib and Brewhouse, and The Winchester Steak, Seafood and Bourbon Bar at the new downtown hotel, a catering business and a food service business serving construction workers at Braidy Industries.
These new businesses expect to bring more than 160 new jobs to Ashland.
Smokin J's is scheduled to open on May 18.
