Music, majorettes to return at annual Laidley festival
CHARLESTON, WV (WCHS/WVAH) —
The sounds of rolling drums and blaring trumpets and sights of majorettes in sparkling costumes will soon return to at a popular annual event that showcases Kanawha County’s best high school bands and majorettes.
Organizers said bands from all eight high schools will perform at the Gazette-Mail Kanawha County Majorette and Band Festival 6:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field.
The Pride of West Virginia, West Virginia University’s marching band, also will be featured.
Now in its 71st year, the band festival raises funds for high school band programs.
Tickets make be purchased at each local high school and at Kerr’s Music, Gorby’s Music and Laidley Field. Advance tickets are $7, and $8 at the gate.
