Multiple people taken into custody following pursuit through Kanawha County

Two people have been taken into custody following a pursuit in Kanawha County.

Dispatchers said a man was arrested at about 4:15 p.m. Saturday near Rutledge Road in Charleston. Police began pursuing the man at about 3:40 p.m. at Third Avenue and Sixth Street in St. Albans. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle and multiple people jumped out of the car and the driver took off, dispatchers said.

The driver, Justin Ryan Barker, led police from multiple agencies on a pursuit to Rutledge Road, where he jumped out of the vehicle and ran on foot, jumped a fence and climbed on top of a garage and was taken into custody.

St. Albans police also arrested Richard Shannon Carr, who was one of the people who jumped out of the vehicle. He was wanted on a capias warrant.
