Man accused of stabbing another man in face outside of Marmet store
MARMET, WV (WCHS/WVAH) —
Marmet police said a man was charged after he stabbed another man in the face during a fight outside a convenience store, causing a 6 to 8-inch laceration.
Mark Alan Luchkiw Jr., 34, of Belle is charged with malicious wounding after an altercation Thursday outside the Dollar General store in the 9100 block of MacCorkle Aveue.
Several witnesses told police that Luchkiw and another man were involved in a physical altercation outside the store entrance in the parking area. One witness said Luchkiw pulled a knife out and cut the victim in the face, police said.
Police said the Luchkiw and the victim were not at the scene when an officer arrived. The complaint said one witness told police that Luchkiw put something in a grease container behind a restaurant as he was fleeing the scene. A folding knife was found in the container.
The complaint said Luchkiw was located by police and taken into custody. He is being held at South Central Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
Meanwhile, the victim was treated at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Hospital for a 6 to 8-inch laceration that extended from above his left ear to just above his mouth. Police said he told them Luchkiw cut him while they were involved in a fight.
