Kanawha officials advising drivers to use caution in expected icy conditions
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
Kanawha County emergency officials said very hazardous travel conditions will develop Friday evening and last into the middle of the day Saturday as temperatures drop and freezing rain begins and then turns to snow.
Rain will change to sleet and freezing rain Friday evening, then to snow around midnight. Snow showers are expected to continue into Saturday morning.
About 1 to 2 inches of snow is expected in Kanawha County on top of freezing conditions, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Commission. Travelers are advised to use caution Saturday morning when conditions are expected to be icy.
The Kanawha County Emergency Operation Center Emergency Response team is currently on standby.
